You can have a fulfilling Alaskan experience without ever leaving the premises of Fireweed Station, so plan to stay a few more days!  Both indoors and out, we'll see to it that you stay entertained and well-fed.

Inside activities include: Large common areas for relaxing with a good book from our collections, board games and cards to enjoy with other guests, high-speed wireless internet. Look through our scrap books and read letters from the original family that built the Lodge.  Guitars are available for improvised  jam sessions.   Fine dining is available for private parties at the Inn, and you may be able to convince us to share a cooking lesson along the way! 

Outdoor activities include:A sunny deck and extensive lawns for enjoying those long Summer days.  Play a round of Alaskan Rules Bocce, Badminton or Horseshoes.  Learn about the organic veggie, herb and flower gardens, you can even help pick lettuce or pull the weeds! Our trails for hiking, cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing lead you through woods and over creeks, with some great views of the Alaska Range.  Star-gazing and Northern Lights viewing can be spectacular here anytime from late August to April.

Mountaineering - Talkeetna is the "jumping-off" point for most climbers flying to Denali Basecamp and the Alaska Range. If you're up for the challenge contact Alpine Ascents International for an unparalleled adventure.

Hiking - There are some terrific hikes and treks in the Talkeetna area; stroll out to the River Bar at the end of Main Street, hike up to Curry Ridge in Denali State Park or fly into the Talkeetna Mountains for a multi-day camping trip.  Ask us about trail maps or guided trips.

Fishing - Catch a huge or ugly fish in any of our local streams. Salmon and Trout run in the Summer, or try ice-fishing for Trout or Pike in Winter. Walk, drive, boat or fly-in fishing trips are popular, ask us about local guides and services.   

Cross-Country Skiing: Fantastic trails right from our door-step and around Talkeetna, groomed for classic and skate skiing; a great way to explore.

Dog Mushing - A truly Alaskan experience not to be missed.  We have retired from running dogs ourselves and miss it every day of the winter.  Team up with some of the friendliest dogs at Wings & Paws and "hike out" on the trails around Montana Creek.

DownTown - 12 miles north of us, Talkeetna buzzes with life all hours of the day and night during our long summer days.  There's always local character and live music playing at the Fairview, visit the Historical Museum, or sit outside Nagley's and watch the world go by...
